The dissertation work is devoted to the topical issue of higher education's pedagogy and vocational training of teachers of philology. The essence of the concepts of "competence", "competency", "communicative competence" was specified. The author's understanding of the concept of "communicative competence of the future teachers of philology" was formed. The structure of the communicative competence was investigated. The components, the criteria and levels of formation of the communicative competence of the future teachers of philological specialties were defined. The pedagogical conditions were identified and grounded theoretically.
