The scientific, educational and organizational activities of the founder and the first director of Kharkov Technological and Kiev Polytechnic Institutes V. Kirpichev is comprehensively investigated in the thesis. His life period has been reconstructed. The factors that contributed to the V. Kirpichev's scientific outlook were founded.The V. Kirpichev's activity as director KhPTI and KPI was revealed. It was shown that KhPTI and KPI were established, due to his superb organizational skills. It also was founded that V. Kirpichev was great public character who defended actively of higher technical school development opposed the conservative government system.
