Essay

Propensity to manipulate is viewed as a subject's readiness to manipulate other people to achieve his/her own aims. However, when manipulation is used as a dominating strategy of behaviour, propensity to manipulate is viewed as a personal feature. There are serious grounds to assume that students-manipulators actively use hidden psychological influence in order to achieve success in academic performance (for instance, to get high marks, scholarship, etc.). Instead of realizing their inner strengths and potential that help personal growth, a person may strive for external success, for being recognized at any cost. An important motivational factor for students' choice of manipulative behavioral strategy is their value of their own prestige in different spheres of life.
