Essay

It has been found out, that provision of transparence and coherence of the process of foreign language learning in accordance with the standards, education of respectfulness toward language and elaboration of tools for encouragement to the languages learning are the main principles of language policy in Switzerland, the state with federal organization. The combination of competency-based approach with multicultural approach promotes the formation of plurilingual competence via the way of acquirement of knowledge in the field of linguistics, mastery of culture studied language; constant dialoge with language speakers by the masters. Scientific trend of content in the masters-philologists' training has been detected in every Swiss university. The features of English language study by masters, who choose specialization in linguistics, and the specifity of English literature study by masters in literature specialization have been found out; the features of methods of implementation of this training in Swiss universities have been revealed and the basic forms of organization of their education have been defined. The importance of ICT for blended learning implementation to the masters has been asserted. Conceptual basis of Masters in English linguistics and literature training are determined at Swiss universities. Organizational framework at Swiss universities is revealed. The students of the Master's programs are involved in lectures, seminars, workshops and problem-oriented research coloquiums. The forms of their learning activities are similar to those which they have in Bachelors' program. However, at Masters' educational level, the proportion of self-learning increases and requirements for their mental activity become thorough because students have to actively take part in these types of work that require the formation of an independent analytical and creative thinking. Discussion is the main method of seminars. Masters in English linguistics and literature improve their argumentative skills during seminars. The use of these forms of organization and methods promote the students' active position, which is found in their ability to evaluate facts, events, laws, regularity, and certain linguistic phenomena critically. Masters are gradually trained to be scientists, communicative and rhetorical personalities. Content special aspects in bachelor and master training are found. Deeper level of study applies to various problems of the English language and literature, learning approaches, which require further conducting researches, learning outcomes. Comparative analysis of the particularities in Master' training on foreign philology at universities in Switzerland and Ukraine has been performed; guidelines on usage of elements of progressive experience of Swiss universities in the higher education system of Ukraine have been formulated.
