Strategic programming and development management is particularly important in modern conditions processes. On a personal level it is life strategy, which aims to harmonize the current situation with the desirable on the ground of relevant life values and concept of the Self. Strategy is a generalizing format (pattern) for other forms of rational life constructing. Students' vital strategies bear the imprint of the transitional students' social status. Higher education serves defining element and an important adjustment factor in them. Depending on the place and role of higher education, main educational motivation and ideas about the professional future life strategies of modern Ukrainian students can be distinguished into the three basic types: career-pragmatic, universal-educational, and adaptive-conformist. Students consider intelligence and personality as the basis of their potential and success in the future. The competence educational strategy, which is based on the comprehensive development of competencies, based on multiple intelligence and the development of creative personality traits can ensure the competitiveness of a decent future specialists. The core of all the competencies should be the person as the concentration of creative qualities and fruitful professional skills that make it possible to solve problems of any complexity level.
