Perkhach R. Terminology in patient information leaflets: cognitive linguistic and cultural linguistic aspects (based on Ukrainian, Polish, German)

Theoretical and methodological principles of medical terminology study in cognitive and cultural linguistic aspects have been summarized in the thesis. Basic concepts specific to the texts of patient information leaflets such as: PATIENT, DOCTOR, MEDICINE, DISEASE have been modelled. The methodology of the frame-based organization of medical terms within the concepts has been improved. The level of terms saturation of patient information leaflets in modern European languages (Ukrainian, Polish, and German) has been determined and significant differences of these levels have been found.Material of the research has been analyzed using quantitative and statistic methods as a result frequency dictionaries for the patient information leaflets have been compiled.
