In the thesis – it was comprehensively studied the participation of Canada in UN peacekeeping activities. It was followed the evolution of the Canadian peacekeeping in the second half of the XX - XXI century. In the course of research there were examined new tools of UN peacekeeping and the role of Canada in their development and implementation during the peacekeeping missions in former Yugoslavia and Afghanistan. The study analyzed the tactics of Canadian soldiers during peacekeeping operations and it was determined how their achievements have influenced the construction of the image of Canada as a «peacemaker». However, it was investigated the role of Canada in the development of foreign policy concepts aimed at preventing humanitarian disasters. It is proved that the number and scale of conflict of 90-s of the twentieth century affected the production of more radical than earlier methods, which are used in carrying out peacekeeping operations under the auspices of the United Nations. It has been analyzed the causal relationships between political decisions of the governments of Canada and participation in peacekeeping missions of Canadian soldiers and it was followed how the success or failure of a peacekeeping influence upon Canadian society and Ottawa in particular. It was characterized the modern peacekeeping activity of the liberal government Justin Trudeau. It was followed peacemaking process changes, the paradigm of the new Prime Minister, which lies in returning to the traditional policy, in which the emphasis is not on the force, but on maintaining peace through diplomacy, promotion of development and humanitarian assistance. Also it has been proved that Canada has lost its status of «middle power», at the same time it is trying to maintain the country's image of peacemaker. It has been proved that participate of Canada in UN peacekeeping in the second half of the XX on the turn of the XXI century has acquired new features, tools, and the very essence of peace missions has changed: they became multi-component. Thus, the resolution of current conflicts requires finding new theoretical and practical developments.
