Essay

The thesis substantiates the scientific background of the origins of phenomenon of artistic rebellion in Ukraine in the period from the second half of the 20th century on the example of the artists Ada Rybatchouk and Vladimir Melnichenko, and studies the conceptual ideal of the artists' creative work. It clarifies and specifies the phe-nomenon of artistic rebellion in totalitarian society, and theoretically substantiates the process of formation of noncomformist ideas in creative work. This thesis studies the details of the creative work of the famous Ukrainian monumental artists Rybatchouk and Melnichenko. It rises the question of the destiny of a monumental work of art in totalitarian society. The artistic features of certain works of art. The author proves that works of art created during different periods of time bear the features of innovative experiments, and demonstrate specific methods of form making, daring innovations in color scheme, technological experiments, as well as challenge the stereotypes accepted in Ukraine in 1960-2000. The thesis repre-sents the history of creation of monumental works of art, typology and analysis of expressive means. Specific place is gives to cultural characteristics of social and cul-tural background of the studies period of time.
