The thesis is devoted to the problems of the formation of future family doctors' pedagogical competence by improving the quality of pedagogical training at medical universities. Еhe author defined structural and functional components of family doctor's pedagogical competence, specific principles of pedagogical training of family doctors at medical universities (humanistic orientation, emotional activity, social interaction, conceptuality, integration, complexity, gradual implementation, continuity, adaptability, innovation), proposed the conceptual basis of pedagogical training of medical staff, and specified criteria, indexes and levels of its formation. The clarification of requirements for the quality of doctors' training allowed offering the method of diagnostics of the level of students' pedagogical training at medical universities.
