Kosenko R. History of Formation and Development of Heterosis Sunflower Breeding in Ukraine (2nd half of the 20th century - beginning of the 21st century)

The thesis is devoted to comprehensive research on the formation and development of heterosis sunflower breeding in Ukraine in the 2nd half of the 20thcentury - beginning of the 21st century. The history of the formation and development of one of the sectors of the national agricultural science, heterosis sunflower breeding, was evoluted. Preconditions of its formation, factors contributing to its development were defined; the main scientific achievements of domestic research institutions and of eminent scientists in this branch were summarized; a scheme of genesis stages of innovations in heterosis sunflower breeding exemplified by the Plant Production Institute nd. a. V.Ya. Yuryev NAAS was designed; the main trends in heterosis sunflower breeding in Ukraine were outlined; their importance at the present stage of the development of agrarian science was established; and periodization of major historical stages of the formation and development of heterosis sunflower breeding in Ukraine was developed
