Essay

This thesis propounds a new methodological framework of training university students majoring in foreign languages and literature. The central issue is literary competence of teacher-trainees of foreign literature. The research presents a detailed description of a coherent and comprehensive methodology aimed at developing literary competence. The author exhibits how this methodology can be applied in the learning and teaching process, propounding the devised structural-functional model, methods and techniques of processing literary texts and a relevant system of communicative and cognitive professionally-oriented tasks.
