Ihnatchenko N. Determinants of investment activity Ukrainian commercial banks in the context of globalization.

This thesis is dedicated to investigation of theoretical and practical aspects of formation of current strategies in investment activity of commercial banks of Ukraine in the context of globalisation, formation and development of international investment banking activity, detection of specific general trends in functioning of the investment banking services market of Ukraine as a natural element of the global financial market, and to detailing of methods of improvement of global competitiveness of the domestic banking sector. This work reviews theoretical basis of investment banking activity in the context of globalisation of the world economy and investigates evolution of scientific views on its role and place in the system of global economic relations. It articulates approaches to determination of the essence of globalisation of banking investments and systematises national and international determinants having impact on modification of global processes in the field of international investment banking activity. This thesis reveals the essence of the mechanism of implementation of strategies of interaction of Ukrainian commercial banks with banking capital, specific features of its institutional and functional structure, as well as principles, efficiency, and issues of its functioning. It summarises positive and negative effects of financial liberalisation having impact on development of investment banking activity in Ukraine during the period of market transformations. It substantiates conclusions with regard to the fact that taking a course to steady economic development with intensification of investment activity of domestic commercial banks being an effective mechanism of this process will be a catalyst in economic integration of Ukraine to the global economic, monetary and financial space. On the basis of the investigation, this thesis provides proposals that have been developed with regard to improvement of economic policy in the field of regulation of investment activity of commercial banks in Ukraine, as well as a set of actions aimed at minimisation of negative effects of global financial instability at the present stage of development of the world economy.
