Prykhodko A. Standards Concerning the Indigenous Peoples' Rights

The thesis is dedicated to the international legal standards of the fixing, realization and defense the rights of indigenous people. The evolution of approaches to the indigenous peoples' issues from the ancient times to modern scientific doctrine is lighted in the dissertation. Author observes the development on the international conventions, unilateral acts and international precedents devoted to the indigenous issues. The thesis shows the reflection of the indigenous statute and rights in the actual universal agreements, the development of the UN bodies' system for indigenous peoples, the procedures of preparing, adoption, providing and realization some coherent international norms. Author investigates the gradual formation of modern UN mechanisms for indigenous peoples' issues. There are proved the sequence and the ways of development of indigenous status, through the gradual recognition of indigenous subjectivity and volume of indigenous rights.
