Essay

It has been found that the study of geospace in Ukraine was conducted at both scientific institutes and educational institutions. The peculiarities of the creation of the experimental base are determined. The main directions of the scientific research of the ionosphere by remote and satellite methods are outlined. The achievements of the Ukrainian scientists in the development of fundamental and applied researches of geospace are defined. The contribution of HPI scientists to building ionosphere observatory and creating unique scientific equipment, which is IS radar, is remarked. The scientific heritage of V. I. Taran is summarized. The activities of the Institute of ionosphere not only as a research institution, but also as an educational center are clarified. The system of the training of engineering and scientific personnel is analyzed.
