Essay

Thesis is focused on the specific character of the communicative personality in Ukrainian, French and English media discourse. The main purpose of the research is to display the structure of communicative personality using corpus-based approach. The specific character of communicative personality determines the main principles of its research as a unique cultural and linguistic phenomenon. Political discourse generates "discourses of response", and media discourse appears to be just this kind of discourse. In a pragmatic structure of media discourse media play the role of mediator - between politicians and citizens. Author of analytical articles acts as commentator, manifesting himself in three ways: as a sender of information messages or ideas, as relatively subjective analyst and as opinion leader - "creator" of public opinion. Communicative personality is formed on the base of language skills, through which she/he expresses her/his ideas in oral or written speech. It is characterized by a common language and common semantic-cognitive base with other speakers, has communicative purpose and applies relevant set of strategies and tactics to reach it. The internal structure of communicative personality comprises four main levels - motivational, verbal-semantic, cognitive and functional. The basic functions of any communication is interaction and influence, but in mass communication the desire of the speaker to influence the recipient is dominаnt. The basis of the proposed model of collective communicative personality of the author of the analytical article is motivational level with its common for three ethnic communicative personalities motive - to influence the reader. Verbal-semantic level is a potential linguistic arsenal of personality, due to existence of which it comes possible to deploy speech message. The study of verbal-semantic level of the author of the article in the weekly socio-political magazines supposes the identification of the most commonly used vocabulary as logical and conceptual component of media discourse and represents, on the one hand, a universal layer of socio-political lexicon, and, on the other - nationally oriented vocabulary. Furthermore the most frequent lexemes should be considered as a kind of concentrate of top political topics for three European countries. The cognitive level is represented by the concepts belonging to the top of communicative personality thesaurus within each political linguoculture. They are toponyms Україна - l'Ukraine - Ukraine, Франція - la France - France and Британія - la Grande Bretagne - Great Britain. The usage of a particular toponym-concept in media discourse reflects existing in the society politically engaged auto- and heterostereotypes with mighty axiological component. In foreign language discourse toponyms-concepts experience the impact of existing in society stereotypes and show a tendency for transformation in axiologically marked ideologeme.
