Essay

This thesis presents a research of comprehension of “human-technology relation” in philosophical anthropology during the XX and XXI centuries. The question of technology occurred as an intellectual issue at the beginning of the previous century and from this moment it reinforces its conceptual influence. Our inquiry asserts the idea that the “human-technology relation” problem has had difficult and sophisticated trajectory of deploy. That is why this research presents an attempt to describe and reckon main milestones of conceptualization of relation between human entity and technology. We have emitted three basic stages of such conceptualization: transcendental, media, empiric. Our investigation starts from the transcendental period where technology seems to be an abstract and monolithic force which alienates human being from its essence and from reality it is living in. The main representatives of this stage are Karl Jaspers and Martin Heidegger. In our study we have shown that both of the philosophers stick the transcendental line of enquiry but each of them, meanwhile, represents a different range of this classic strategy. For instance, Jaspers proposed an instrumental approach where technology is just a neutral mean for achieving human goals. Meanwhile Heidegger created a critical inquiry into instrumentalist’s strategy and established different pole of transcendental line which is known as ‘technological voluntarism’.
