Marchenko V. Historical and Сultural Dimension of Accordion Art Development in Ukraine (second half of XX – the beginning of XXI century)

Specifics of functioning of accordion art in musical culture of Ukraine in the second half of XX – the beginning of XXI century is revealed in the work as an integrated system which has a well-organized structure and functions of main components of relationship. A model of the accordion art as a phenomenon of musical culture was developed. Cultural and historical background upraise of accordion art in Ukraine which includes existence of a wide varieties of harmonics in musical life of Ukrainian people, the emergence of artisanal and factory production of harmonics, contrary to public policy in the field of culture and art are observed in this study. The dissertation reveals the reasons for the approval of accordion on the Ukrainian stage, such as: socio-political and socio-cultural factors that have contributed to the emergence and development of accordion art in Ukraine; specific features of accordion (novelty, sound aesthetics, portability, visual appeal, colorful timbre); applying of the accordion as part of pop bands and jazz orchestras; development of accordion musicians related specialties; appearing of the mass factory production of accordion; importing of a large amount of trophy instruments to Ukraine during the last years of the Second World War. Vocational training of accordionists formation features in Ukraine have been revealed. It includes the opening of accordion classes at all levels of music education, games teaching creative me thuds on the accordion, focus on piano and bayan techniques, availability of Ukrainian authors teaching aids, the expansion of educational and concert repertoire for accordion. It identifies the main factors that are contributed to the approval of the accordion status as a professional instrument in solo and group, orchestral performance of Ukraine. Among them: historical and cultural conditions which encouraged an international contacts promotion and acquaintanceship with the new phenomenon of foreign musical culture; the emergence of professional artists; approval of accordion at philharmonic stage; organizing international competitions and festivals; usage of foreign accordions with a consistent product quality that has required all the needs of accordion art in professional and academic spheres; availability of repertoire that consisted of pop-jazz compositions and arrangements of classical music; introduction to the Ukrainian practice of performing a multi-tumbrel free bass accordion. It characterizes the genre and stylistic features of the Ukrainian composer’s creativity for the accordion. The main trends of the Ukrainian accordion performing have been analyzed and generalized on the basis of the creative activity of leading ukrainian accordionists and accordion groups. Activities of accordion and bayan competitions and festivals have been researched as a factor in the development of modern musical culture of Ukraine. Historical-cultural periodization of the accordion art in Ukraine of the second half of XX – beginning of XXI century has been specified.
