Essay

This dissertation is devoted to the cultural studies of a Ukrainian philosophical novel as a phenomenon of ethnic culture, because it portrayed mythopoetical, ideological and psychological peculiarities of the Ukrainian cultural "soul", also touching upon the religious, moral, philosophical and aesthetic ideas of the "spirit of the nation" and the corresponding "world view." It is a Ukrainian philosophical novel, taken in its ideologically-philosophical and mentality of archetypal dimensions, designed to comprehend prior Ukrainian identity, integrating the Ukrainian literature and art with the world cultural space. We analysed the main artistic and stylistic varieties of the Ukrainian philosophical novel ("historiosophical," "intelligent," "chimeric prose" postmodern philosophical novel and philosophical fiction), each of which has an ethno-national components of literary discourse - the mentality, the native language, mythopoetics, traditional outlook, influencing the formation of ethnic and cultural identity. In the context of cultural studies considered are the mentality-archetypal principles, ideologically-existential concepts of "House - Field - Temple", topos Garden (Divosad), "Small Motherland", artistic and literary motifs such as "World Tree", "Secret", "Holy Grail".
