Kyrychenko Y. The conceptions of Ukrainian ethnogenesis and nation-building in ethnological science of second half XIX - the beginning of XXI century

The thesis studied and summarized historiography of the origin of the Ukrainian people. Main trends of historical knowledge about research problems of ethnogenesis and nation-building people of different historiographical schools are reviewed. In the thesis was accomplished the systematization of the existing conceptions concerning the formation of the Ukrainian ethno-cultural community and political nation. It was analysed the influence of socio-political factors on research of this problem and highlighted the key issues of historiographical discourse related to origin of Ukrainians as ethnic group and their transformation into the nation. Separately were singled historiographical trends and schools that have emerged in the study of above mentioned problem. In the second half of the XIX - early XX century there was a strengthening of Ukrainian national science. As a result, in Ukrainian history at that time was formed the theoretical basis of scientific conceptions of ethnogenesis and nation-building of Ukrainian people.
