The thesis is devoted to scientific substantiation of a comprehensive approach to development of a structure and content of the training process in a mini-basketball for the first year (children aged 6-7 years), which includes four blocks: "Acquaintance", "Interest", "Adaptation", "Habit" along with the distribution of program material to the theoretical, practical, motivational and control sections in accordance with the objectives of initial training phase. The content of the learning material of athletic training in mini-basketball is designed according to the age characteristics of 6-7 year children, that creates the most favorable conditions for manifestation of cognitive abilities, development of physical and specific qualities ( "ball feeling", "sense of time"); promotes harmonious physical development; improves functionality of the body; forms motivation to sports based on the interests of the individuals in expression and disclosure of their potential in team activities. A new approach to mastering theoretical knowledge by junior athletes together with motor activity in the mini-basketball training process was developed, using drafted guidelines "Theoretical aspects of mini-basketball for coaches on initial training" and "Theoretical workshop on mini-basketball for children of 6-7 years" for activity to be completed individually. Using of the structure and content of the training process of children 6-7 years in the first year of mini-basketball training contributed to the improvement of physical and theoretical training, functional state, motivation for training, frequency of training sessions, that gives reasons to its practical implementation into basketball reserve training system.
