Essay

The paper presents the prerequisites and key factors for the formation of P. A. Kochubey's scientific world outlook, analyzes his research, scientific-organizational and educational activity in the 1850-1890s. The periodization of his creative path has been carried out, the main directions of scientific research in the agrarian sector, which are tested in practice in the estate "Zgurivka" of Prylutsky district Poltava province, are highlighted and generalized. The educational and advisory work in the structure of non-governmental organizations such as Commission on questions of national hygiene and quality of food products, Imperial Russian Technical Society and Poltava agricultural society is found out.
