Aleksandrova V. Formation of socio-cultural competence of 8-9th graders during extra-curricular activities in Ukrainian

This thesis represents a theoretical-and-experimental study on the issue of forming socio-cultural competence of 8-9th graders during extra-curricular activities in Ukrainian. In the thesis the content of the concepts "extra-curricular activities", "socio-cultural competence" and "socio-cultural competence of 8-9th graders" are construed; the linguodidactic foundations of organizing extra-curricular activities in Ukrainian are substantiated, which enabled distinguishing a scope of principles, forms, methods and resources in complex providing effective formation of socio-cultural competence of 8-9th graders during extra-curricular activities in Ukrainian; the content component of extra-curricular activities for 8-9th graders in Ukrainian is defined as a mobile and structurally complex category closely related to the whole process of teaching the Ukrainian language to secondary school pupils. The specified content sections of extra-curricular activities in Ukrainian (linguistic and socio-cultural) can contribute both to the enhancement and broadening the pupils' knowledge, develop their oral and written skills as well as creative abilities. Methods for forming socio-cultural competence of 8-9th graders envisaging engagement of pupils during extra-curricular activities in Ukrainian to the national cultural heritage, mode of life, traditions, social relationships and hence formation of socio-cultural competence of 8-9th graders are elaborated.
