Sandul M. Global competitiveness of the national higher education systems

The thesis is dedicated to a study of conditions, enhancers and mechanisms of increasing the national higher education systems' global competitiveness. The concepts of higher education and higher education systems' competitiveness are studied and the definition of 'global competitiveness of the national higher education systems' is suggested. The author studies contemporary methodologies of international benchmarking tools for evaluation and ranking of the national higher education systems. Key determinants of a high level of national higher education systems' competitiveness of the USA, countries of the European Union, and new industrial countries in the context of knowledge economy are defined. International competitive disposition of the national higher education systems is explored. The development and enhancement mechanisms of the national higher education systems'competitive advantages of the key innovator countries are summed up. Priority areas for increasing competitiveness of the national higher education system of Ukraine are substantiated.
