Essay

The thesis presents a detailed theoretical analysis of the problem of resilience as a psychological phenomenon. The resilience of juvenile convicts is viewed as the ability to perceive life events as challenges, rather than as threats; the ability to realize and harmoniously solve the problems of social life, the ability to build a full life and manage both own internal and external resources in the difficult conditions of disharmonious society and changes. Theoretically substantiated and empirically investigated are such internally personal components of the resilience of juvenile convicts as reflection, psychological well-being, tolerance to uncertainty, proactive coping behaviour. The interrelationships of the resilience of juvenile convicts with psychological characteristics that are facilitated or inhibited are revealed. The theoretical-psychological and methodological approaches to the diagnosis of psychological characteristics of the resilience of juvenile convicts have been improved. On the basis of the results obtained in the work, practical recommendations have been developed for optimizing the psychological resilience of juvenile convicts.
