Yasnohurska L. Concept TREACHERY: linguistic, cultural, and corpus-based approaches (based on Ukrainian and English materials)

Theoretical and methodological principles of the concept TREACHERY study in cognitive and cultural linguistic aspects have been summarized in the thesis. The structure of the concept TREACHERY and its equivalents in English (betrayal/treachery/treason) have been investigated. The main semantic profiles (treason, adultery, biblical betrayal, infidelity, disloyalty/loyalty, treachery/denunciation, betrayal/deception, betrayal/camouflage, betrayal/disclosure of secrets, mysteries and perfidious intentions, etc.) as well as inter-conceptual relations (BETRAYAL/SIN, ADULTERY/MARRIAGE, TREACHERY/GAME) have been detected. The means of figurative nomination, phraseological expression of the concept and its content within the corresponding paroemic and phraseological semantic groups have been analyzed. The distributive relations of key lexemes within the corresponding conceptual fields according to t-score methodology have been revealed.
