Karpina O. Forms of Expression of the Historiosophical Conception in Vs. S. Solovyov’s Pentalogy “The Chronicle of Four Generations”

The object is Vs. S. Solovyov’s Pentalogy “The Chronicle of Four Generations” (novels “Serhiy Horbatov”, “Volterianets” (Voltairian), “Staryi Budynok” (Old House), “Vyhnanets” (Exile), “Ostanni Horbatovy”); the aim is to reveal the artistic specificity of the forms of the expression of the historiosophical conception in Vs. S. Solovyov’s Pentalogy “The Chronicle of Four Generations”; methods – systematic, descriptive, comparative, biographical, holistic and motive analysis of the artistic work; novelty – historiographical, philosophical and literary sources, which had a decisive influence on the formation of Vs. S. Solovyov’s historiosophical beliefs system, have been established; the main features of the writer’s historiosophical conception have been determined; for the first time, there was an attempt of the comprehensive study of Vs. S. Solovyov's mail literary work at the historiosophical point of view; the place and significance of the Horbatov cycle in the novelist’s creative heritage have been determined; the realization of the genre signs of the family chronicle has been shown, the individual author’s transformations of the historical novel of Walter-Scott’s type has been revealed; the meaning of the title of the pentalogy and the novels included in it has been revealed; the compositional peculiarities of “The Chronicle of Four Generations” have been outlined; the basic means of the cyclization of the parts of the pentalogy, which ensure its perception as the artistic integrity, have been considered; for the first time, the forms of the expression of Vs. S. Solovyov's historiosophical concept, available in the cycle, have been analyzed; the close interconnection of the historiosophical problems of the pentalogy and its poetics has been established; results – the materials and findings can be used in the process of the further study of Vs. S. Solovyov's creativity, for scientific studies, in the university courses of lectures on the Russian historical fiction of the turn of the XIXth-XXth centuries, in special courses and special seminars on the family chronicle in the Russian literature of the XXth century, in textbooks, manuals and methodical recommendations for studying literary disciplines of the philological profile, in research management. Some provisions of the dissertation may be included in the electives of the Russian literature of the XXth century for students of secondary comprehensive educational institutions; field – philology.
