The thesis is devoted to the hand-made pottery of the East German component of the Chernyakhiv culture. It is one of the main ethnocultural markers. The source study base is 896 typologically defined vessels of the northwestern type, materials of 246 burials (217 typologically determined) and 170 settlements (100 typologically defined constructions) of the Chernyakhiv culture with the specified pottery. These hand-made pottery is divided into two large groups - Wielbark’s and Przeworsk’s types. A typology of Przeworsk pottery in the Chernyakhiv culture was created. Areas of distribution of pottery of Nort-West types are determined, indicating the zones of greatest concentration and the earliest monuments, which allow to establish the ways of forward East-Germanic tribes to the south-east. These are: the regions between the rivers Styr and Horyn (Wielbark culture of the territory of Ukraine), the Dnipro River south of Kyiv, the Dnipro River in the vicinity of the rapids, the South Bug region and the Dniester-Prut interfluve. On the basis of the correlation with the issue of the hand-made pottery, the burial rite, house-building and characteristic types of inventory of the north-western component of the Chernyakhiv culture were considered. It is indicated on the differences in the groups of funerary complexes with pottery Przeworsk and Wielbark types. It is proved that the most often hand-made pottery serves as an inventory in girls burial complexes.
