The thesis is devoted to the complex legal analysis of qualification of non-international armed conflicts in IHL. Theoretical foundations of the qualification of non-international armed conflicts in IHL are analyzed. The legal nature and characteristics of essence of the term “armed conflict” are specified. The place of the term “non-international armed conflict” is defined within the existing of the historically formed legal distinction between international and non-international armed conflicts in the system of IHL. Modern challenges of contemporary non-international armed conflicts are emphasized. These are the aspirations of the theory and practice of modern IHL towards the gradual convergence of legal regimes of international and non-international armed conflicts. The evolution of international legal regulation of non-international armed conflicts are researched. The formation of the periodization of establishment and development of the international legal regulation of non-international armed conflicts are examined.
