Essay

The thesis research is dedicated to the reconstruction of historical processes in the area of the south forest-steppe zone between Southern Buh and Dnister. Processes took place on BII and CI stages (IV mill. BC) of Trypillia culture. Rakovets and chechelnyk groups are prevalent mainly in this period. The existing categories of archaeological sources that were acquired during more than 120 years of investigations in the region are collected and systematized in this paper. Pottery and tools were analyzed and their detailed typology was developed. On the basis of this database, topographical placement peculiarities of settlements, its density distribution, areas and planning structure have been characterized. The features of construction, interior and exterior surface structures have been analyzed. A characteristic of morphology, filling and function of sunk objects are described. Economic activity of the region has been investigated. Reconstructed history of the population is based on relative and absolute chronology, considering of migration routes and contacts of chechelnyk local group population with neighboring tribes.
