Essay

The thesis deals with the philosophical and cultural analysis of the phenomenon and the concept of Homo Urbanus based on the consideration of the city as a certain chronotope in the unity of the city-community and city-territory, the introduction of a theoretical model for the division of urban residents into citizens and city dwellers, and understanding of identity as an interaction between selfhood and identity of the city human. In analyzing the problem of identity as interaction between I and the Other, two tendencies are singled out: firstly, the most often in such a view on the problem is not fully taken into account the space of this interaction, which induces me on one or another relationship with the Other; secondly, when this space is considered, then identity is revealed not as the interaction of selfhood and identity, but as one of the options for identifying an individual with a particular local group. It is argued that the formation of urban identity can take place in several main directions, which no longer coincide with the direction of consolidation of communities. The city as the basis for the formation of urban identity should be considered as a certain chronotope. The city-territory and the city-community are closely interconnected and intertwined; it is impossible to delineate these two vectors of the view to the city. From the perception of one of them, the perception of another invariably follows, which is extremely important when it comes to the philosophical and cultural reflection of the formation of urban identity. Homo Urbanus as a new type of urban identity is determined by its ability to quickly adapt to changing circumstances, to conform with the rules of urban life in a modern city, to engage in engagement with the city when changing, reconstruction, dismantling of signposts, etc., occur with the participation of cities. In this paper, the principal incompleteness of the very phenomenon of Homo Urbanus, and hence the designation of its determination due to the dynamism of the characteristic features of the modern city, is argued. The city's human now goes beyond its borders, and at the same time structures a completely new urbanized space, producing new forms of ties created in it, but are already integrated over the city.
