The dissertation is a scientific historical research. It is based on the involvement of an extensive source base and methodological foundations. The scientific and educational activity of the leading scientist, the founder of the research in the field of processing organic products was discovered in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The scientist’s creative career and pedagogical as well as his organizational work during the process of historical and analytical research have been determined. A. Р. Lidov’s scientific searches have been analyzed. The main directions A. Р. Lidov’s scientific research have been determined: textile production, inert gases, processing of petroleum products, fatty substances processing technology, etc. A. P. Lidov's primacy was discovered in the opening of the arc method of bleaching fabrics. The information on the close cooperation of A. P. Lidov and D. I. Mendeleev was found.
