The thesis focuses on the research and investigation, an issue of linguistic competence in future second language teachers formed during specialty courses was determined to consist of three basic approaches – competent, practical and sociolinguistic. All together these scientific approaches allow to develop an optimal system of research methods and techniques, to create certain pedagogic conditions for formation of future second language teachers’ linguistic competence and to develop methods for its creation to conduct an effective experimental work. The key concepts of formation of future second language teachers’ linguistic competence during specialty courses were listed. They include concepts “competence”, “speech”, “linguistic competence”, “specialty courses” and some related terms. The concept analysis of the research issue helps define the concept “formation of linguistic competence of future foreign languages teachers” as the development of oral skills, knowledge, abilities and practice of foreign language communication of future second languages teachers, with formation of their positive motivation and self-evaluation of the specified competence, based on the competent, practical, and social and linguistic approaches. The structure and content of linguistic competence for future foreign language teachers have been defined. Basing on the scientific literature analysis and own scientific-pedagogic experience, we expanded this structure with the following components: motivational, social and cultural, practical and reflexive. The thesis presents the research and methodological justification of the technology for linguistic competence formation in future second language teachers during specialty courses, that is characterized by communicative directions, purposefulness, system-based pedagogical activity in relation to harmonization of goals, forms, contents, methods and results of studying. A pedagogical experiment was conducted in relation to the nature of influence of the pedagogical conditions system and the technology for linguistic competence formation in future second language teachers during specialty courses. A structure of the technology for linguistic competence formation in future foreign language teachers while studying specialty courses is believed to be the system of goal-oriented, organizational, substantive, methodological and effective components. The dynamics and tendencies in the control group are tended to distribution of students by their linguistic competence levels, revealed at the ascertaining stage of the experiment. The following issues seem to be perspective for further researches: the role of psychological and pedagogical disciplines in future teachers’ linguistic competence formation; research and comparative analysis of the experience in foreign language linguistic competence formation in students of foreign higher educational institutions; development of the methodological support for the linguistic competence formation in future foreign language teachers while studying specialty courses.
