Essay

The results of theoretical and empirical study of self-acceptance as a factor of contemporary woman’s psychological well-being are highlighted in the research. The bio-psycho-social approach is introduced for constructing the model of self-acceptance as the main component of psychological well-being. There are two main principles were applied for constructing the model: the holistic and etiological principles. According to the holistic principle the main components of self-acceptance are defined: cognitive, emotional-motivational, spiritual and body. According to the etiological principle, self-acceptance as a factor of contemporary woman’s psychological well-being has the specific features in each concrete case, depending of the age and professional and social status of the woman. The structure of psychological well-being is analyzed, represented by life goals, auton-omy, social interaction, competence and personal growth. The results of the empirical study of psychological well-being of the women according to their age and professional and social status show that the level of self-acceptance is increasing with the age, however demands the special program directed to the development of the self-acceptance in the context of well-being. Moreover, the difference in various aspects of quality of life correspon-dently the level of self-acceptance is revealed. The results of the empirical data show that the qual-ity of life of the women with the low level of self-acceptance is defined by subjective factors which can be easily improved by the activity of the women.
