The peculiarities of the influence of the type and ratio of modifying additives to diesel fuel on its properties and reduction of harmful substances emissions during the operation of internal combustion engines of motor vehicles have been defined. It was established that the reduction of smoke emissions by 7.6−34.3 % and the reduction of carbon monoxide emissions by 15.9−26.4 % can be achieved in the case when 10−30 % vol. of the biodiesel is used as a modifying additive to diesel fuel. At the same time, the nitrogen oxides emissions can be reduced by 5.5−11.3 % in the case when up to 16±1 % vol. of the biodiesel is used as an additive to the fuel. Addition of the 0.05−0.20 % vol. of the other synthesized additive to diesel fuel reduces carbon monoxide emissions by 23−27 %, nitrogen oxides by 8−10 %, unburned hydrocarbons by 26−27 %, while the smoke content in the exhaust gases reduces by 27−29 %. It was found that in the case of motor vehicles refilling with modified fuel containing 15 % vol. of biodiesel, the integral index of atmospheric pollution (IZA5) was reduced by an average of 14.0 %, while the integral index of the conditional total toxicity of the engine exhaust gases was reduced by 11.6 %. In the case when diesel fuel containing 0,1 ± 0,01 % vol. of the other synthesized additive was used, these indicators were reduced by 11.6 % and 18.1 % respectively.
