The dissertation is devoted to research of principles and methods of rational formation of pedestrian spaces in small and medium cities.
The idea of forming pedestrian space began to be implemented in cities in the middle of the 20th century in order to preserve the architectural heritage and reduce the anthropogenic and environmental pressures. This gave an impetus to the study of existing pedestrian spaces of cities, using the measure of benevolence of urban areas for walks, shaping the current trends of pedestrian-pleasure spaces of cities in America, Europe and Australia.
The task of forming city pedestrian spaces has recently been widely developed in the urban development of many countries whose main purpose is to separate pedestrians from traffic flows. The popularity and recognition of the importance of pedestrian spaces are confirmed by numerous polls conducted in cities in Germany, the USA, Poland, Russia and other countries.
During the study, the foreign and domestic experience of the formation of pedestrian spaces (antique, feudal, industrial, informational) was generalized, and the basic principles of architectural and planning decisions formation during the formation of pedestrian spaces were outlined and the main methods of organization of movement on pedestrian spaces were described.
The features of pedestrian spaces of the city of Uzhgorod, the main factors of influence and the requirements for its optimization of the pedestrian-communication framework have been identified.
Classification of pedestrian spaces and basic techniques for the formation of emergency vehicles, which would stabilize the level of safety and adaptability of streets and roads to pedestrian traffic, taking into account the high level of accidents involving pedestrians.
On the basis of the complex criterion for assessing pedestrian spaces, a 4-stage model of the interaction of the pedestrian traffic and pedestrian traffic module based on the pedestrian traffic module of 250 m is substantiated and theoretically substantiated.
The method of calculation of pedestrian spaces for all functional-planning structures, taking into account the distances from structurally forming pedestrian highways to the angle of deviation in the urban plan, is developed.
Also, recommendations for the inclusion of pedestrian spaces in typical cross-sectional profiles of streets and roads of settlements have been developed.
All results are tested on the example of the city of Uzhgorod, namely: the Concept of formation of pedestrian spaces, as well as improvement of demand and offer of pedestrian spaces and regulation of functional purpose is offered.
