Grodska E. Formation and Preservation of the Cultural Identity of the Ukrainian Diaspora in Contemporary Spain

The scientific problem of the presented research is to determine the cultural-historical and socio-cultural features of the formation of the Ukrainian diaspora in Spain in terms of meanings and forms of Ukrainian cultural identity. The study of this topic is relevant for several reasons. Firstly, the problem of staying Ukrainian migrants abroad is becoming more relevant, socially and politically significant. Secondly, the diaspora becomes a socio-cultural space, in which the most intense processes of creation of collective identities and their appropriation by individual people take place. At the same time, from the standpoint of people living in the diaspora, it acts as a depository of cultural codes, ideologies and values that were inherent in the metropolis and now must be preserved. Thirdly, the scientific relevance of the study is that, with a large number of studies devoted to the problems of identity from the point of view of sociology, psychology, anthropology, etc., there is a lack of purely cultural definitions of such a phenomenon. In addition, today there is no research studying the cultural identity of the representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora in the Kingdom of Spain.
