Essay

The dissertation presents an analysis of the scientific, engineering, organizational and public activities of the outstanding national engineer and scientist in the field of hydraulic and hydropower engineering I.H. Aleksandrov. The historical significance of the scientific contribution and merits of I.H. Aleksandrov referring the development of hydraulic and hydropower science of the first third of the twentieth century have been highlighted. Having systematized a variety of source materials, the author depicts a picture of the development of hydraulic and hydropower engineering in the Russian Empire, the former USSR and in Ukraine, comparing this process with foreign ones. It is proved that the scientific-theoretical, engineering-organizational and pedagogical work of the scientist became the basis for the development of new ideas and ideas for further research in the identified spheres.
