The thesis is a theoretical and experimental research of the problem of teacher's professional and pedagogical self-development in the context of the transition to a competent model of education. It was found out that in the context of the transition to a competent model of education, the internal system of teacher training is of particular importance as it has a high potential in ensuring the continuity of the development of teacher's professional competence, monitoring changes that directly influence the effectiveness of the pedagogical process in school. It is proved, that the informational-reproductive system of education is not conducive to constructive relations of participants in the educational process of all types and levels, as well as the cooperation of the school with the institutions of pedagogical education. Methodology of experimental work is developed, the complex of criteria and methods of diagnostics of the effectiveness of teacher's professional and pedagogical self-development with the orientation to the standards of competent education according to the structural components of the model (value-motivational, content-technological, control-reflexive) is formed. It is formed the program and content-technological support of teacher's professional and pedagogical development with a focus on self-development, using resource possibilities of the school and institutions of pedagogical education. In particular, it іs formed the system of diagnostics of the effectiveness of teacher's professional and pedagogical self-development, methodological materials, methodical recommendations for improving the efficiency of the system of teacher's professional and pedagogical development and self-development.
