Essay

The thesis is devoted to the problem of formation of future biology teachers’ research competence in the process of professional training. The state of development of the problem of formation of future biology teachers’ research competence in the theory and practice of professional training is determined. The definition of the “research competence of future biology teachers” as a qualitative, integrative characteristic of future biology teachers is given, its essence and components are determined. The criteria and indicators are substantiated; the levels of formation of future biology teachers’ research competence are characterized. The technology of formation of future biology teachers’ research competence in the process of professional training is developed and theoretically substantiated. It is defined as a structured system of interconnected units (motivational-target, theoretical-content, activity, diagnostic-productive), aimed at achieving the expected result, i.e. formation of the future biology teachers’ research competence in the process of professional training. The components of technology are distinguished and characterized: purpose, approaches, principles, stages, pedagogical conditions, forms of organization of research activity, methods and means of training, criteria and indicators, levels of formation of research competence. The effectiveness of the developed technology has been experimentally tested and proved, as evidenced by the increase in the proportion of students with creative and productive levels of formation of research competence as a result of introduction of technology into the process of training future biology teachers. The practical significance of the results of the study lies in development and introduction of educational-methodological provision for the formation of future biology teachers’ research competence in the process of professional training. The educational-methodological provision is aimed at conscious, creative, independent, systematic students’ use of developed materials and included. The results of research can be used to improve the theory and practice of future biology teachers’ professional training in the process of organizing their independent work, in profile classes of institutions of general secondary education, in the system of preparation of pupils and students for Olympiads in biology, for professional development of scientific-pedagogical staff. The conducted research does not cover all the aspects of technology of future biology teachers’ research competence formation in the process of professional training of Bachelor’s level. Further studies should be directed at development of similar technology and methodological provision for applicants of the Master’s level.
