Essay

The thesis examines the role of humanitarian factors in the emergence and intensification of separatist movements in Ukraine. It analyzes the historical development of separatism as a socio-political phenomenon, its connection with such processes as the formation of state sovereignty, the formation of nations and national states, the consolidation of the principles of the right of nations to self-determination and territorial integrity of states on the international level, as well as the features of separatism, its main types and forms. The notion of separatism is defined as an ambivalent phenomenon of the modern era, which, on the one hand, can lead to the disintegration of the state and the disturbance of the balance of geopolitical security, and on the other hand, is one of the means of realization of the economic, political, social, cultural interests of the ethnic group or territorial community that face political, economic and cultural discrimination. The thesis analyzes the process of formation of the humanitarian policy of Ukraine, its normative base and the present state.
