Essay

The thesis is a scientific and theoretical generalization of intellectual biography of Professor V.V. Kolkunov (1866-1939)- a theorist and expert of agrobiology, breeding and agricultural crops physiology, one of the organizers of branch research in Ukraine and professional higher education. On the basis of the analysis of historiographical and archival materials, the periodization of the scholar’s life and creative way has been developed, which made it possible to determine the main directions of his scientific research and their role in the development of the agrarian science in Ukraine. The contribution of Volodymyr Volodymyrovych Kolkunov to the foundation and organization of the scientific and educational process of specialized agricultural chairs, breeding departments and laboratories and research institutes in Ukraine has been shown and described.
