Essay

The study is dedicated to the consideration of theoretical and methodological foundations and elaboration of the system of exercises for forming text creative skills of primary schoolchildren in the process of learning the verbs. In the thesis theoretical and methodological foundations for forming text creative skills of primary schoolchildren in the process of learning the verbs are substantiated; the content of basic notions of the study, namely, «text creation», «text creative skills» and «speech skills» is determined; the content of the notion «forming text creative skills of primary schoolchildren in the process of learning the verbs» is specified; psychological factors for forming text creative skills of primary schoolchildren in the process of learning the verbs are considered; the linguodidactic foundations of text creative skills of primary schoolchildren in the process of learning the verbs are defined; the content of the available textbooks for teaching Ukrainian within the context of forming text creative skills of primary schoolchildren in the process of learning the verbs is analyzed; the system of exercises of multilevel gradation for forming text creative skills of primary schoolchildren in the process of learning the verbs is elaborated and the theory and methods of implementation of text-centered approach to teaching the Ukrainian language to primary schoolchildren are further developed. In this work, the content of the notion «text creation» is construed as a process of an ongoing interaction of stages, notably understanding the context of communication and planning the course of the thought formation, selection of communicatively expedient speech means for its verbalizing and behavioural-and-reflexive activities of pupils. In this study, the notion «forming text creative skills of primary schoolchildren in the process of learning the verbs» is construed as a process of acquiring informational-and-meaningful, structural-and-compositional, grammatical-and-stylistic and behavioural-and-reflexive skills based on grammatical indicators of verbs acquired by primary schoolchildren for using in communicatively meaningful speech. Four levels of gradation could be singled out for selecting exercises. Exercises belonging to the first gradation level should aim at forming pupils' skills of understanding the communicative context, apprehending the topic and the main idea of an utterance and selecting the material and systematizing it for further text composition. Exercises of the second level of gradation should involve analyzing speech material, selecting the appropriate vocabulary necessary for implementation of the idea, deciding upon the cohesion of micro-topics, comprehending semantic communication between the parts of a text and singling out key words for expressing ideas by means of grammar and intonation. Exercises of the third level of gradation should aim at selecting respective lexical, grammar and intonation means of expressing ideas, matching synonyms and antonyms to the presented verbs and using proverbs, sayings, idioms and verbs with figurative meaning while composing texts of various genres. Exercises of the fourth level of gradation should envisage comprehension by primary schoolchildren of the integrity of meaning, form and function of the acquired verbs in speech, primarily in text perception; implementation of activities on speech culture and effecting creative tasks involving producing one's own utterances. Key words: text, text creative skills, forming text creative skills of primary schoolchildren in the process of learning the verbs, system of exercises of multilevel gradation.
