The dissertation examines in detail the norms of international law, which constitute the legal institute of state responsibility in international law for an international unlawful act - the destruction or damage of a civilian aircraft in flight. The theoretical and methodological approaches that were used in determining the responsibility of the state, the present state of international legal regulation of the state's responsibility for the destruction or damage of a civilian aircraft in flight were studied in the work. Based on the findings, various approaches, both scientific and practical, are proposed to solve the problem of the state's responsibility for the international unlawful act of civil aviation.
