The thesis comprehensively examines the artistic interpretation of Ivan Kotlyarevsky's literary images in the cultural-historical content of the late ХІХ-ХХІ centuries; it reveals the content and nature of the artistic interpretation of I. Kotlyarevsky's work in book graphic from the past to the present. It has been established that the artistic interpretation of I. Kotlyarevsky's literary images in the cultural-historical content of the late ХІХ-ХХІ centuries, as an object of research and the phenomenon of artistic culture, was studied by the national art criticism mainly in the individual aspects. They revealed, so to speak, the upper layer of the characteristic features of that phenomenon of the Ukrainian culture only. Currently, we need to consider the cultural and historical evolution of the domestic book graphic with due regard for the influence of many external factors: economic, socio-political, ideological, and even aesthetic tendencies. In this context, there is an heuristic expediency to follow the evolution of the artistic interpretation of literary images of one of the most famous Ukrainian writers, which reveals the content and source of relevant artistic tendencies. Therefore, book graphics are the focal point, where complex socio-political, spiritual, cultural, artistic and aesthetic factors interact. The literary heritage of I. Kotlyarevsky still excites the imagination of artists; whose works convincingly justify the persevering search for the corresponding artistic presentations of the poet's literary word, and give an extremely interesting and promising material for research. Therefore, the relevance, importance, and insufficient theoretical elaboration of this problem make us choose the subject of the thesis research.
