Shevchenko O. Sarmatian female graves with weapons

The urgent need for the comprehensive study and systematization of the entire array of femal burials with weapons in the Sarmatian cultural-historical community, both in chronological and spatial dimensions, has determined the relevance of the proposed study. Due to the proposed method became possible to reveal the features of the life of Sarmatian women which have not been watched before. Briefly the obtained results could be described as follows: into the military affairs the women from poor families, which was caused by "overpopulation" could be involved. Participation of women in hostilities depended on the traditions adopted in each separate category. In most generic groups, this kind of custom does not occur. No age limits are observed. The participation of Sarmatian women in hostilities did not restrict their implementation as a wife and mother. More often, the set of arms of women corresponded to male complexes, in most generic groups, men and women, in this case, were not divided. Situations in individual burials can be the evidence of professional orientation of women who skillfully possess rare weapons, becoming high-quality, professional warriors.
