Essay

This thesis is focused on the study of personality religiosity, particularly students’ individual religiosity structure. Seven types of religiosity were established on the basis of its dispositional and operational manifestations: religious-moral, religious-anxious, religious-formal, religious-intuitive, religious-normative, pseudo-religious, and religious-conservative. Among basic dispositional manifestations of religiosity are personality traits, states and properties: sensitivity, empathy, anxiety, conservatism, inferiority, boldness, continence, rich imagination, affective, inferential and holistic intuition. Among basic operational manifestations of religiosity are controlling one’s own emotions, their adequate expression, dominating positive emotions and their intensity, emotional closeness. It was established that religious-moral type is related to the top universal stage of religiosity development and is based on intuition, senses, and faith. The affective intuition, intelligence and faith are the most powerful predictors of religiosity with affective intuition having the highest predicative potential. Therefore, religiosity as a personality construct displays the intuitive-sensual reflection of reality. Psycho-semantic coordinates of ‘religiosity’ and ‘spirituality’ concepts are expressed through associative meanings of subjects, emotions, and values, situational meanings of expressed religiosity and connotative meanings with the most explicit poles of big and strong descriptors.
