Essay

The dissertation work is a complex scientific-historical research, based on the use of a representative source base; the peculiarities of the development of scientific and organizational principles of metrological supervision of Ukraine were analyzed. It is investigated that the precondition for the formation of metrology in Ukraine was the activity of Mendeleyev D.I. on applied and legislative metrology introduction and creation of the first metrological centers. The creation on the basis of the Kharkov Testing Chamber as the first state statute of Ukraine in the field of metrology - the Ukrainian Main Chamber of Measures and Weights contributed to the formation of the state metrological service and the development of standards. The characteristic features of the metrological supervision of the Ukrainian SSR are analyzed. It was proved that the main metrological center was the Kharkiv State Research Institute of Metrology, where in the Soviet era eight standards of the USSR were created. During 1991 - the beginning of the XXI century the development of metrological supervision was explored and the directions of research work of leading metrological establishments of Ukraine and NSC "Institute of Metrology" were systematized. It is substantiated that during this period a unique reference base (69 state primary standards and 71 secondary standards) was created that made it possible for Ukraine to become a metrological independent state. The achievements of scientific collectives in the field of metrology are generalized and directions of development of the scientific metrological school of Ukraine are outlined.
