Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the problem of development of teacher’s professional image in the system of postgraduate pedagogical education. The current state of the problem has been analyzed. The essence of the basic concepts of research (teacher’s image, teacher’s professional image, development of teacher’s professional image in the system of postgraduate pedagogical education) has been specified. The components of teacher’s professional image such as appearance, internal image, communicative component have been defined. The criteria and corresponding indicators have been characterized: motivational (realization of teachers’ needs in development and self-development; motivation achievement of teacher’s success); cognitive (mastering integral knowledge about developing professional image, its structure, basic knowledge of technologies for developing their own image); activity-behavioral (ability to analyze their own professional activities and prepare a strategy for developing their own image, ability to create an attractive image aimed at revealing internal image). Revealing the degree of each indicator gives an opportunity to establish three levels of development of teacher’s professional image (positive, close to positive, negative). The model of pedagogical image development in the system of postgraduate pedagogical education has been established, which combines three interdependent blocks: conceptual: purpose (development of teacher’s professional image in postgraduate education); tasks (to form pedagogues’ knowledge about imagology, motivate them to develop their own image, develop skills to improve the professional image, promote the mastery of image development technologies); principles: general scientific (scientific, systematic, consistency, accessibility, visual training, strength of knowledge acquisition) and specific (taking into account life and professional experience, individual needs for obtaining special knowledge, lifelong learning, self-development, context of education); components of teacher’s professional image: appearance (clothing, shoes, accessories, hairstyle, makeup, walking, manners, etiquette); internal image (professional knowledge, skills, abilities, sphere of consciousness, system of values, self-conception, reflection, intuition, health, critical thinking, personal qualities); communicative component (verbal and nonverbal features of communication); activity-content: directions of teacher training (coursework, inter-curricular training, self-education activities), forms (lectures, practical courses, special courses «Development of teacher’s professional image», pedagogical practice, scientific-practical seminars «Teacher’s professional image», trainings «Teacher’s self-presentation»; workshops «Imagemaker for yourself»; work with literature; preparation of reports for participation in the seminar «Teacher’s professional image»; working on the scientific and methodological theme), methods (creating situations of success, self-observation, training, target tree, brainstorming, experience exchange, breeding rings, quests) and training tools (multimedia units, interactive posters, Internet network, computer programs «Movavi», «Jkiwi», «Mindomo»), which provide the development of the phenomenon under study; resultative: criteria, indicators, levels of professional image development and the result is teacher’s positive professional image. In the dissertation, pedagogical conditions for the development of teacher’s professional image in the system of postgraduate pedagogical education have been theoretically substantiated and experimentally verified: the formation of positive motivation from teachers to the development of their own professional image in the process of modeling a professional ideal; establishment of a creative informative and developing educational environment; educators’ involvement in the development of their own image through self-education by means of computer technologies. The practical significance of the research lies in the development of a teaching and methodological support for the process of developing a professional image of a teacher in the system of post-graduate pedagogical education, in particular: a special course program «Development of teacher’s professional image» and methodological recommendations «Development of teacher’s professional image in postgraduate education». The practical work outlined in the dissertation, educational and methodological developments can be used in the educational process of institutions of postgraduate education, as well as in the development of appropriate educational and methodological literature, when writing scientific research on this topic.
