Essay

The special linguistic historiographical research of general theoretical problems of argo, jargon and slang in European and American social linguistics is presented in the thesis. For this purpose the review of works of linguistic historiographical direction, devoted to the study of theoretical problems of social dialects during the XIX century – the beginning of the XXI century is done. Important theoretical problems, connected with the functioning of jargon-slang vocabulary in the system of modern (mainly Indo-European) languages are solved in the works of social linguists. Social studios contain important assertions according to the study of different aspects of functioning of argo, jargon and slang in human communities. The authors of the reviewed works are English, French, Spain, Italian, German, Danish, Romanian, Czech, Croatian, Slovak, Bulgarian, Polish, American, Russian, Belarusian, Ukrainian and linguists of other countries. In their studios, a wide spectrum of theoretical questions are reviewed; actual directions of research are clarified. According to the goal and tasks of investigation, actualistic method is used. On the basis of the analysis, the conclusion of the importance of social dialectology for the research of argo, jargon, slang is done. The confirmation of peculiarity of argo, jargon, slang some important features, properties, qualities is got.Scientific novelty of the thesis is that the attempt of special linguistic historiographical research of general theoretical problems of argo, jargon and slang is made first. It has caused the necessity of theoretical development of the item. The novelty of the work is that a significant amount of linguistic works is reviewed. The results of the research testify, that considerable work of study of social dialects are held by European and American linguists of the XIX – in the beginning of the XXI century, a lot of valuable fundamental theoretical and lexicographical problems of origin and functioning of argo, jargon and slang are shown. However, at this time, researches of the scientists of the subject of social dialects lag behind needs of the present. Some questions remain problematic and controversial, they need a solution.
