The work reveals the specifics of the functioning of jazz in the musical
culture of the XX – beginning of the XXI century as the art of dialogue in the
aspect of the philosophical and cultural concept of dialogism, theoretical
approaches to dialogue are systematized and generalized, its characteristic features
are defined. The criterion for typologizing the dialogism of jazz art defines the
zone and the level of localization in the system of musical culture. On this basis,
two generalized types of dialogism are distinguished in the existence of jazz art:
internal and external dialogues.
The study of the forms of internal dialogues in jazz allowed to find out that
in each of them there is a presence of dialogue vocabulary and a variety of types of
dialogical relations. It is proved that during the evolution of jazz the dialogue with
academic and avant-garde academic music is diverse and lengthy, they are
fruitfully correlated on the style level. When examining external, non-musical
dialogues of jazz with literature, theater, choreography, it is noted that many
outstanding creative personalities perceive jazz as a kind of spiritual renaissance.
The essence of interplastic dialogue between jazz and variety, jazz and rock music
is revealed. A palette of Ukrainian festivals, operating in the XXI century in the
cities of Ukraine, the sound environment of which is dialogized with the leading
trends of the European and American jazz process and market.
